Duotone photos
analysed by Rebecca Ingham
1)I gave this picture a
magenta tint to it as the flower was magenta. I adjusted the levels to give the
flower head more detail as some would be lost if I made the image brighter. I
find the image appealing as the flower is placed central and draws the
attention of the viewer. I wanted the focus to be on the flower so I made the
background out of focus increase the intensity of the flower and make the eye
go to the flower.
2)I wanted the same
effect for the photo however I reduced the space around the flower to reducing
the potential of the viewer’s eye wandering away from the flower. The colour of the petals was a bright yellow
and I wanted the filter to be matching them and to be at the same level of
brightness without losing details on the photo.
3)As the sign is the
only thing in the photo and is placed central I didn't need to blur the
background as I believe it frames the subject (the sign). I wanted the colour
to be intense and make the texture stand out. i took the photograph this way so that the sign wasn't crammed in the photo. As the colour of the sign was intense i wanted this to be represented in the duotone final image and i believe I've achived this, i did this by changing the levels and adjusting them until i was satisfied with the result.
4)As in this photo I
couldn't add much colour to this photo as I wanted a black filter on the photo.
However I did change the levels to add detail and reduce the shadows. This photo is very similar to the photo of the rose as they both have an object in the photo to frame the item and make it the central focus of the photo. i photographed this way so that the subject was central in the frame to make it an appealing as it directs the viewers attention to the main focus of the image.
5)As the colours of the petals was a deep red and i wanted to create this effect when i used the duotone effect. i photographed the flower next to the pole so that it would frame the flower and give the photograph a unique interesting point to look on. the way the flower head is central makes it an appealing photo however if i were to re photograph the rose i would try to take the rose from different angles.
6) For this photo i deepened the colour to give more darker look as I increased the sharpness to make sure that not any detail is missed. As green is an intense colour i wanted this to be shown on this image and not lose any sharpness in the process and i believe it has been a success. the way the object is framed in the photo makes the image a success as its framed central and there's enough space so that the image does not look crammed.
7)Because this photo has two textures in the background I wanted to dull them down so that there were not distractions. I also blurred the texture in foreground so that the object stand out to the viewer. i cropped so that the only thing in the picture was the shoe however I did not want the shoe to be crannied in the photo, where the was no space around the object. I love the way colour has made an effect on the photo i didn't want the colour to be too bold and overpowering.
I wanted to show the detail of the object in this photo anii wohink this is best shown in the laces as they are the aspect that stand out on the photo. I wanted to seprate the ground and the object as they are very simlar in texture and colour. The kind of filter i was going for was sandy and dusty as this matchs the two subjects in the image. The way the edges are blurred makes the centre framed and i believes this pull the attention of the viewer into the centre.
i wanted to frame feet in the same way as the picture above however I wanted to keep the deatil throught the picture. I lightly posterised the ankles to give the photo a creative twist which makes it a unique photograph. i wanted the colour to be intense but not overpowering to the viewer. I took the photograph this way to place the feet so that they lead you into the photo. The filter i have added i believe has inhanced the deatil
